In July of 2008 the International Society for Coral Reef Studies held the 11th International Coral Reef Symposium in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida USA. At this symposium there was convened a special section on the science of connectivity in coral reefs. With funding from Conservation International, World Wildlife Fund and The Nature Conservancy. I have compiled a summary document of this session.
The goal of this document was to sum up the major findings of the symposium and highlight future directions for research. Though I wrote it with conservation practitioners and managers in mind, I included citations to the pertinent literature for those who are interesting in delving deeper.
