As part of of research carried out at Columbia University, I investigated the use of traditional ecological knowledge in marine conservation. This is a understudied body of knowledge that can improve our formal taxonomies and for conservation biology. The results of this work have been published in Conservation Biology.
In conjunction with Adam Henne (University of Wyoming) we have also investigated some of the formal and informal obstacles to anthropologists and biologists forming synthetic research programs. This research has been published in Ecology and Society.
